We're proud to recognize Joy Kitiku as she celebrates 4 years with Keystone Custom Homes! As an Architectural Drafter, her attention to detail and dedication help shape the homes our buyers love.

What is your favorite part of your job?
As much as I enjoy the puzzle of customizing various dream homes, the best part about my job is hands down my teammates! I am blessed to work with such fun, collaborative, and supportive folks! You can always count on each one of them, both at work and beyond!

What is the biggest thing you have learned so far in your Drafting role?
There’s never a dull day in drafting! The combination of endless possibilities of expansions and customizations available, plus the uniqueness of every family’s needs, brings a refreshing experience week after week! My problem-solving skills and attention to detail have significantly improved and continue to be strengthened through every experience. I try to track the different expansions I’ve drafted along the way, and just when I think I’ve probably seen it all by now, something new always comes along.

What is the most unique customization that you have drafted?
I enjoyed drafting a home where the buyers selected a floorplan that came with a first-floor Owner’s Suite in the standard layout, but these buyers wanted to add a second Owner’s Suite on the first floor—ending up with an east wing and west wing in the final design.

What is your favorite floorplan to draft and why?
This is a difficult one to answer! Every week brings different customizations, unique buyers’ needs, and different floorplans to design. You almost fall in love with a different layout with each draft. The Nottingham so far has been very interesting to draft through the lenses of different buyers, seeing how much it can evolve with different possibilities.

Fun fact about you!
I love board games and jigsaw puzzles —probably because I enjoy the strategic thinking, which translates perfectly to my love of solving drafting puzzles!
