Homes for HOPE: One of our Greatest Accomplishments

Home builders around the country do their part to contribute to the housing and/or poverty needs of the communities around them, and Keystone Custom Homes is no exception. As a builder of Pennsylvania new homes, we proudly partner with HOPE International to build Homes for HOPE. How does it work?

Keystone Homes and the builders we partner with can donate all or some of the cost of a lot, profits or overhead. Trade partners, such as subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants, donate all or some of the cost of labor, materials, and consulting services. Others associated with building a home, which may include banks, title/escrow companies and other service firms, may also be involved by waiving fees or making financial donations in support of a Homes for HOPE project.

Just a few of the results of this kind of philanthropy include:

– Builders and tradespeople can help address poverty, simply by doing their jobs.

– Participants receive reputation benefits. Involving hundreds of members in a high-impact project is a positive image booster.

– Builders create stronger bonds with their trade partners through a team-building effort that helps thousands of people with just one project.

– The visible expression of the building industry’s generosity sets an example for others to follow in charitable giving.

In fact, Homes for Hope began as a program of HOPE International in early 1999, when HOPE’s founder, Jeff Rutt, was searching for ways to support HOPE International as it expanded to alleviate poverty in some of the poorest places on earth. Jeff, who went on to establish Homes for Hope that year, is none other than the founder of Keystone Custom Homes.

Since that time, over $10,000,000 has been raised in support of HOPE International’s microenterprise work around the world. Homes for Hope currently operates in nine states across the country, typically in affiliation with a local homebuilding association in each area a Home for HOPE is built. This builder of Pennsylvania new homes is proud to play such an integral role in this good work.
