Meet The Team: Grant Henry

Congratulations to Grant Henry on 14 years with Keystone Custom Homes! We are grateful for Grant and the leadership he brings to our construction team. Learn more about Grant's experience and his time at Keystone.

What is your favorite part about working at Keystone?

I enjoy the daily interaction with not only my construction team but working together with all the other teams in the organization to solve problems and provide the best product for our customers. Having always had a high level of interaction with land development throughout my career, I definitely welcome the opportunities to work with and assist our land team on new community site work.

What is your favorite stage of construction and why?

With this year marking my 50th year working in new home construction, having started by working summers at the age of 15, learning the trade from my father, I still get a thrill out of the final stage of construction. While watching a home come out of the ground is still exciting even after doing it a few thousand times, delivering a new home to a customer is still an exciting and often times moving experience. To this day, I am still friends with several people that I met through building their home, some over 30 years ago.

What is one thing that KCH does differently in our builds that sets us apart from the competition?

Our design team does an excellent job of creating beautiful and unique elevations that truly set us apart from other builders. The ability to drive through a community and not be able to tell from the outside that there may be 4 of the same models in a row due to the elevation changes, totally transforming the homes into what appears to be something entirely different, is amazing.

What is your favorite floorplan to build?

After Many years, the Covington is still one of my favorite floor plans. I remember the first one we built as a model back at Buckingham Preserve and being captivated by the spacious and open first-floor plan, making it ideal for family living and entertainment.

Fun fact about you!

When I am not busy chasing upland birds with my pointing lab Jetta or at the cabin in Clinton County, I can generally be found around the house working in the garden while cooking something up on one or more of my 7 different grills and smokers for friends to come by and enjoy. Looking forward to getting back into barbeque competition in my retirement years.

Any words of wisdom for someone younger entering the field?

While the days can be long and demanding at times, the rewards and sense of satisfaction make it all worthwhile. To stand back and look at a completed home as a family is unloading their moving truck to begin a new chapter of their lives or driving by a community that you completed years ago and thinking about all the lives that you have impacted in some manner through your work in home building most definitely provides you with a true feeling of fulfillment.
