From “It’s Just a Dream” to the Keys in Hand: How Mandish and Rosa Built Their Forever Home with Keystone

For a lot of people, building a custom home sits in a mental folder labeled "someday". It’s the dream you talk about but quietly assume isn’t meant for you. Mandish and Rosa Singh know that feeling well.

“I never envisioned myself owning a new home. I always thought it was a pipe dream.”

Today, they wake up every morning in a brand-new Savannah floorplan in Keystone’s Walnut Creek community, looking out at open farmland with their dog Pluto already angling for his morning walk. Here’s how they got there.

Why They Stopped Looking at Resale Homes

Like many buyers, Mandish and Rosa started their search the traditional way: browsing the used home market. The problem wasn’t a lack of options. It was that every house had some of what they wanted, but never everything.
After nearly a decade in a 1951 starter home that they’d poured time, money, and energy into renovating, they knew exactly what they were looking for. A gutted kitchen in an older home, Rosa pointed out, would cost just as much as getting a brand new one. So why not start fresh?

“We wanted to see if new construction was something we could use for future homes, too. And so far, everything has pointed to new homes being the more ideal way for what we wanted to accomplish.”

There was another factor: contractors. Anyone who’s managed a renovation knows the stress of coordinating trades, chasing timelines, and hoping the work holds up. Building with Keystone meant trusting one team that had already vetted its vendors and builders, rather than assembling the puzzle themselves.

What Drew Them to Keystone

Their introduction to Keystone wasn’t the result of an elaborate research process. They walked into a model home one afternoon and met Ryan, a Keystone sales consultant at Welbourne Reserve.

“I don’t know what secret manual you stole from Chick-fil-A, but the customer service we experienced at Keystone was first class. 10 out of 10.”

Rosa had done her homework online, comparing builder websites, reading reviews, and studying floorplan galleries. Keystone stood out for one specific reason: transparency.

“Keystone made it very easy. They didn’t hide anything. I checked out several other websites and I didn’t get anywhere on those. With Keystone, everything was there.”

Choosing the Savannah Floorplan (Without Ever Seeing It in Person)

Rosa fell in love with the Savannah floorplan entirely through Keystone’s website and virtual tours, a model home that wasn’t even built in Pennsylvania at the time.

“Every day I would take a virtual tour. It gave me a lot of ideas and I didn’t need to see it in person.”

What drew them to the Savannah specifically? The right-sized footprint, not too large and not too small. A first-floor Owner’s Suite that kept daily living streamlined. A Loft upstairs that gave the home two completely different personalities: a productive, grounded first floor and a relaxed, entertainment-ready second level.

“It spoke to us right away. This sounds like something we would really enjoy.”

When questions came up about customizations, their Construction Manager walked them through what was possible, and the answer was almost always yes.

The Design Studio: Where It All Became Real

For Rosa, the vision was always clear. For Mandish, it clicked the moment they visited Keystone’s Design Studio.

“It’s one thing to read what maple cabinets look like. It’s another thing to see them in person. It was like going to a less stressful Home Depot. Everything was concise, everything was there. That’s when I finally got really excited.”

Their Designer walked Rosa through every selection with such ease that Mandish describes the two of them as “long-lost sisters.” From exterior finishes to shower tile to the kitchen upgrade that made Rosa’s dream coffee corner a reality, every detail had a moment where it stopped being abstract and became something they could see, touch, and imagine living with.

Watching It Go from Dirt to Done

Neither Mandish nor Rosa had ever watched a home be built from the ground up. They visited the site constantly, sometimes every day, tracking progress, asking Kyle questions, and marveling at how quickly the structure took shape.

“It’s crazy to see a dirt lot turn into this beautiful thing.”

Despite a snowy winter, the build came in ahead of schedule. The handful of minor mix-ups along the way turned out to be happy accidents. A garbage disposal switch that ended up on the backsplash instead of under the sink? Rosa’s exact words: “I’m so glad that happened.”

A Community, Not Just a Home

The Singhs didn’t just find a home at Walnut Creek; they found a community. Coming from a dense suburb, the open farmland and friendly faces were an immediate draw. Mandish has already joined the community’s events committee, a Keystone-encouraged initiative that gives new residents a reason to connect.

“Every phase of life is covered here. Young couples, retired folks, everyone in between. It’s very nice to see.”

Their Advice to Anyone Considering Building

Rosa: “Look at all the details and add all the windows you can. I still regret not adding a couple more.”

Mandish: “Enjoy the moment, because it goes fast. Have faith that Keystone is going to do the right thing, because at the end of the day, they want to make the customer happy.”

For anyone still sitting with that someday feeling, Mandish puts it simply:

“I always thought it was a pipe dream… somehow, someway, Keystone fell into our lap. No became a yes.”
